Hi I'm Austin

I've grown up in the Pacific North West. I'm a convert of over one year.

About Me

I like to play basketball, hangout with friends, go camping, and other outdoor activities. Grew up Lutheran but didn't go to church. Convert of over one year and preparing to go on a mission in a couple months.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't grow up going to church and reading the Holy Bible. Was Baptized as a Lutheran when I was a baby. Moved around a lot within Washington, but my conversion didn't start until I moved back to the area I lived in during my early childhood. When I moved back in 8th grade, I made lots of friends. Most of my close friends I later found out were LDS. They were nice people and had better morals than most of my other typical friends I've grown up with. You could really tell the difference. Next couple years I slowly start to go to church with them once in a great while, go to church dances, and go to mutual (what other church's call youth group). It was during these activities and going on their High Adventures in the summer, I really started to be around the church. Once Junior year in high school was coming to an end, my best friend who is LDS and his family moved a month befor the school year ended. But wanted him to baptize me before he left (Later after I was baptized I realize it was at this time I wanted to join the church for the wrong reasons). So I waited a year for my friend to come back to baptize me. But during that year I built my own testimony. I started to go to church every Sunday, go to mutual, and dances with friends every time I could. Also the bishop gave a chapter a day for 365 days challenge to the ward at the end of my summer before becoming a senior. At first I thought it was ridiculous to expect people to commit to a year long challenge. But after he was done talking, my thoughts totally changed and I committed to take up the challenge. So I tried to complete the challenge but a month before senior year ended I used up all my passes and more. But with it I read all of the Book of Mormon and half of the Doctrine of Covenants. I learned a lot from it and helped me know the Church is the true Church. Also with having nights where I would read and wake up and continue to read. I saw the good changes in my life God wanted me to see.

How I live my faith

I try my best to go to church on time, go every Sunday, and live by the commandments best I can. I have served and still serve as a ward missionary, where I go help missionaries with lessons they have with members or investigators. Also try to learn as much as I can, since I didn't grow up learning everything about the New and Old Testament. Also when I face challenging trials and challenges, I will ask the missionaries for Priesthood Blessings to help me and through that it has helped my faith grow and come closer to Heavenly Father.
