Hi I'm Susan D. Roberts

I am a descendant of Mormon pioneers. My husband was the first Mormon in his family so he was a pioneer. We raised five sons.

About Me

I am an ordinary woman -- an American, a widow in my 60's, a mom, a grandma. I try to be an active, informed citizen. I have hobbies that include stained glass, baking, reading. My family is my greatest joy, especially my grandchildren. I love to play with them and do crafts with them. (One of my grandsons frequently asks me, "Do you have a project for us, Grandma?") I like to try new things and experiences and make new friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am happy and proud to be a Mormon because my membership in the Church provides me with a "fullness of the Gospel". This means that because we have modern day prophecy that we have a complete understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for modern day prophets to guide us in these days of turmoil and ever changing societal views. I also believe in personal revelation, in other words, I believe that God answers my sincere prayers. What a blessing this is to a mother.

How I live my faith

I try to live my religion every day, in every way. Jesus Christ is my exemplar, therefore, I believe that I should serve others as often as I can, just as He did. I want to uplift others, to encourage them, to not judge, and to be kind and friendly to everyone I meet. This includes children. I have been a long-time advocate for abused children in my town. I have spent many years as a leader in Cub Scouts. Right now I am teaching 3 and 4 year olds in church. I hope that by example, I can encourage all of my family and others to learn about and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Susan D. Roberts
When my husband died, my faith in Jesus Christ grew and expanded. This happened because I was much more faithful about praying reading the scriptures every day and applying the lessons in them to my own life. I needed the strength that the scriptures give. I was comforted so many times by the Spirit. Also I was led to solutions to so many little daily problems. Sometimes I would have a thought come to my head to tell me what to do, but more often, some person would give me good advice or lead me to others who could help me. Because of the nature of these challenges, I know these blessings were not mere coincidences. Show more Show less
