Hi I'm Benjamin

I'm from Pennsylvania. I've been a member my whole life.

About Me

I plan on attending college after my mission, majoring in electrical engineering. I enjoy camping, playing games, playing football and baseball. The church has always been a big part of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I've always been a member, while I was young I never understood why I had to attend church on Sundays, or live the gospel, or even what it meant to be a Mormon. I always relied on the testimony of the people in my life to find significance in it. To some degree, I suppose I did know that trying to serve others and live as Christ lived, as taught by the gospel, helped make me a better individual, and protected me from dangers which are found in disobeying the teachings to avoid alcohol, and tobacco use, or dangers in lying and stealing, but once I grew older and read the Book of Mormon for myself, the question as to "why I am a Mormon" clicked for me. In reading the Book of Mormon, and praying to know if it was really true, I developed knowledge for myself that it is true, and that the words written therein were translated and brought about by a true prophet of The Lord. I knew, that if what I read was true, then Joseph Smith must've been a true prophet, and it was off of this that I built my testimony of the church. When I gained a knowledge for myself that it was all true, everything about why I lived the gospel changed. I didn't follow the commandments or teachings of the prophet because of what my parents or teachers told me, it was because I loved my Savior, Jesus Christ, and wanted to be close to Him, and wanted to please him. As I followed the teachings of Christ with this mentality, the truth of what I was taught, and what I was studying pertaining to the church was confirmed. I saw and felt real, physical, and spiritual changes because of trying to obey the teachings of the scriptures and the prophets. Likewise, I've felt sorrow and pain for disobedience to the commandments, and ignoring the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I'm a Mormon because there is true joy to be found in serving The Lord. Because the Book of Mormon is true, and there is a prophet alive on the earth today. Because I love the Savior, and wish to be with Him again some day.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a priest in my branch. I also serve as a home teacher, visiting two families each month to offer a lesson, and to check up on their well being. I am also a family history consultant for my branch, and offer help to the members of my branch in their family history work. I've also been called as a missionary of the church.
