Hi I'm Braxton

Son of a retired Air Force Colonel and a great mother, blessed with two younger Brothers and sister. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Having been raised in a military family, I move every 1-3 years. I have lived in 6 states and overseas at Belgium and Germany for about 6 years total. I like reading, running and talking with friends and family. I like playing basketball, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. I have recently graduated High School and am looking forward to being a mormon missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born in the church, staying with it has been my choice. My parents have told me that my beliefs are up to me to choose, and I have continually chosen to follow the teachings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From continued studies of this gospel I feel it is the most logical, simple, and hopeful doctrine of any other church. I have talked with friends about their beliefs and it seems like they really struggle to pin down exactly what their beliefs are and sometimes find contradictory beliefs within themselves. There have been times where I feel like some of the doctrine in this church seems difficult to understand, but as I pray, read scripture, and talk to local leaders and listen to our Prophet and Apostles, I almost always eventually find the answers to all my questions that make sense. I love the scripture that states that it is God's glory, "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." If we believe this is true, then we know that any of us being here at this time in any situation is not an accident. That God loves each of us perfectly and unconditionally. I believe that it is this love that all people must believe in, and from there, all can have His spirit with us and we will individually be able to find truth about all things. I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, I love all who aid me such as my family, leaders, and friends. I know that it is the Holy Ghost who is able to bring me personal strength and understanding. I am a mormon because I believe that the gospel taught is true and that we have the true authority of the Priesthood. What I know to be true was found for myself and I challenge all to truly look in themselves and search for truth. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to be raised in the LDS church. In all the places I have lived I have been able to participate in different church buildings with youth and leaders. I have been called to be a home teacher, youth leader, priesthood holder, and missionary for this church. I have helped in planning activities for the youth and have been in leadership positions where I have led camps and organized large scale activities. I am often called on to teach lessons and give talks, resulting in me becoming very comfortable in public speaking (which has helped me beyond church). We have a great organization called Seminary where we are able to take time out of our school day by setting aside a period to study the word of God through the Bible, Book of Mormon, and other divinely inspired books. Every six months we have an opportunity to listen to our Prophet, Apostles, and other church leaders, this event is called General Conference. I love this time and am able to learn so much about Jesus Christ and God through the words they say and I am blessed for being able to make notes on the words they say and impressions I feel. I try to love all those around me. I love my family and my friends, and try to also love those who make me mad or uncomfortable. In this church we stress that all things that God does for us is from his unconditional love for us. This is a beautiful quality that I want to also perfect some day and I believe this is my core belief in the church.
