Hi I'm Callie

I'm from Utah. I want to start a nonprofit helping illiterate families learn to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently finished my freshman year of college and deferred to serve a Mormon mission. I have ADD. I love to play the piano and sing. I also love reading and watching cheesy movies with my family. I am passionate about English and want to teach high school. My goal is to eventually start a nonprofit organization for illiterate people of all ages to learn to read for free so that they can have better lives. I want to be a mom someday and have the opportunity to raise my kids in a loving and happy home so that they can grow up to make the world a better place. I love taking goofy pictures, laughing, being happy, and helping everyone around me to feel happy and loved.

Why I am a Mormon

Happiness is so important to me because, like everyone else, I know what it feels like to be unhappy. Time and time again over the years, without fail, I have learned that nothing makes me more happy than living this gospel. I know that's because it truly is the Church of Jesus Christ and that I am living the way He wants me to live. There are so many parts of being a member of His church that are so important to me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I have seen it bless my life and bring me peace and answers no matter what my situation is. I am grateful to know that God calls living prophets today and I am so blessed when I live by their teachings. I love the gift of the Holy Ghost and know that it guides and teaches me as I open my heart. I know that through God's Plan of Salvation families can be together even after they die- yes, for eternity! More than anything, I am grateful for my Savior. Because I have ADD, it's really hard for me to focus and follow through with a lot of my goals. That gets incredibly frustrating to me because I always have the best of intentions, but I really struggle to be better on my own. But because I have the gospel, I know that through Jesus Christ's Atonement and His grace I can be cleansed from sin and become stronger and improved every day. Jesus Christ is the reason we can learn and progress. He is the reason families can be forever. He is the source of all goodness, happiness, and peace. I know and love Him more each day that I live my faith and strive to be like Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching and serving God's children. I have had multiple opportunities over the years to serve in youth leadership callings and be a Sunday school teacher as a young adult. I try to show love to those around me as I know Jesus Christ would if He were in my place. As I learn about Him, I share what I have learned with those around me and in turn learn from their love for Him. When I do my best to teach and serve people as Christ would, I feel closer to Him and begin to see others and myself as He sees us.
