Hi I'm Zheyann Petersen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Kia Ora and Talofa Lava! I am a Samoan born kiwi, that was raised in both Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. Growing up, I learnt a lot of skills and developed talents from my older sister, cousins and mother. They all taught me how to bake delicious desserts, cook up a feast for Sunday lunch and even the art of dancing played a huge role in my life. My mother taught me from a young age how to Siva Samoa (traditional Samoan dancing) and it has always stuck with me. In 2016, I started my tertiary education at the University of Auckland in the Bachelor of Dance Studies program, however Heavenly Father had a plan for me, and I followed it without hesitation... So, September 2017, I will be set-apart as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to labor in the New Zealand, Wellington Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

The older I have gotten, the more I have been able to understand the Book of Mormon and why my Grandfather always counseled me to read it. All of the stories that are written within that book are true. All of the families and individuals you come across are real people. And I know this because I have sought that answer for myself through prayer. By diligently reading the Book of Mormon and understanding that it is written for me - for my day and age, gives me so much hope that everything is going to be okay in the end because the stories are so relate-able. Through teachings of the Book of Mormon, as well as latter-day prophets, I have been able to come to know of Christ as well become like Christ. The Gospel gives me an eternal perspective to everything in life, and each day that I exercise my faith I am slowly living up to my potential as a daughter of God.

How I live my faith

For me, it's all about giving service wholeheartedly. When the Savior Jesus Christ came to Earth, His life was full of service and He only had love in His heart for everyone. He showed His love through actions. In all that I do in the home, in my community and at church I try my best to serve others in anyway possible. Whatever way I can help, I will do it! For example, I serve my siblings and grandparents in the home by simply helping around the house with things they need to get done and even sharing words of love... "Live the Gospel at all times, if needed, use words".
