Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a dishwasher, an actor, a techie, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Spencer. I am a high school graduate of Westlake High, Class of 2017. I find my joy in theater. Something about a stage a script and a costume makes me feel energized and powerful. There's no feeling like the one I get while acting. I also enjoy technical theater; lighting design, set building, directing, all of the above. While I enjoy the performances, seeing my work come to a head, I mostly love theater because of the people I meet, and the friendship, camaraderie, and love that grows in the environment of a play. I am going to major in theater at Southern Utah University, where I have a full ride academic scholarship. Other than theater, I'm a man of simple pleasures. I love the smell of sea spray and evergreen on the Washington coast. I love a cold, snowy day, with a blanket, a good read, and, of course, a cup of hot chocolate next to the fire. I love a game night with my friends. And I love my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I am still a Mormon because of everything I have experienced. My life, the things I've seen, the things I've felt, the things I cannot even describe, could not be explained without this gospel. I have felt the power of the testimonies of the leaders of this church. I have been to the sacred sites of the restoration of this gospel and have felt God's Spirit there. And I have read the Book of Mormon and I know of it's truth. There is not a doubt in my mind. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and His gospel was restored to this earth through Joseph Smith. I am a Mormon, because the Mormon church is true.

How I live my faith

I love my religion. For me that mostly means simple things: daily prayer and scripture study, trying to serve a bit each day, attending weekly meetings. However I am also a family history consultant, meaning that I help church members research their genealogy and learn about their ancestors. I do this by encouraging indexing, a program that helps catalog millions of records such as censuses, and death and marriage records, adding them to the church's massive store of similar indexed records, and also by helping families find their specific ancestors and helping them expand their family trees. I am also preparing to serve a mission in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to spread God's gospel to the people there, dedicating two years to teach the principles and precepts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
