Hi I'm Tawnee

I was raised on the Arizona Strip riding a horse behind a herd of cattle. And...I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Although we didn't live on our ranch full time, I grew up loving my pony and anticipating each and every opportunity to work with our cattle. I did my schooling in St. George, UT. But probably my favorite pass time is just jumping in the car and taking a ride - across town or across the country - it doesn't make any difference! I love to go! I love to travel! I love to see God's creations through all the eyes of different cultures! I am a mother; gave birth to seven children; raised six to adulthood; and now I'm a Grandmother of eleven-with more surely to come! I never wanted to be anything in this life but a wife and a mother and those two callings have brought me the greatest of joy and pain known to humankind! And bottom line --I wouldn't trade any of those experiences for anything else! I love my husband! He is the person I live for! The one I choose to be with; do anything with; above all others! My children would be next on the list! They are my dearest friends - for better or worse! I love the outdoors! I love being a homemaker! I love traditional legacies! I'm so grateful for my heritage and the road they paved for me! I love get togethers with my family, immediate and extended! I come from a huge family - our yearly reunion consists of about 1100 people; 70 miles of dirt road from the nearest civilization! They are who make me who I am! But first and foremost, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and His gospel is the motivation of everything I do!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into the Church with both parents being members, I experienced the beginnings of my own personal conversion when I was 14 years old. I learned for myself one dark night, that there truly is a God in Heaven who knows me personally and who is totally capable of hearing and answering my prayers; and protecting me! That was the beginning of my choice to allow His Son's atoning sacrifice to work in my behalf, by submitting my will to His! I have found every day since that He can make so much more of me than I ever could of myself! I learn over and over that when I choose to be obedient to His commandments, He is ALWAYS waiting there with a blessing of such profound measure and that even in the choosing - I become more and more converted to His ways and standards of behavior! Indeed, I no longer wonder about His reality, but that has become a sure knowledge for me! Yes, I still have many faults and weaknesses and so much more to learn about truly being a charitable person; but my direction is set! I've experienced too much of His truth in my life to ever back away from this course!! Because of the testimony that I have gained through the Spirit of the Holy Ghost, I know the meaning of true PEACE and JOY! That peace that the world can not duplicate! I am so grateful for living prophets and for the holy scriptures-through both of which the Savior can communicate to me personally. I know He lives! And I know He loves and cares about me! How could anything in this world ever offer more than that???

How I live my faith

My whole life revolves around the Gospel of Jesus Christ and my membership in His Church! That is what gives meaning and purpose to EVERY aspect of my life! I love serving in the Church auxiliaries and have had the opportunity to serve in several different capacities but my "Career Calling" (so to speak) has been with the youth! I have served with the Young Women for many many years and I truly do love it! Having had four daughters of my own, I felt a certain ownership with the program! My poor daughters never went to a Girls' Camp without me - I always had a calling that put me there right along with them. And I have had the opportunity and blessing to plan and carry out numberless activities and programs - from Dance Festivals to Firesides; Youth Conferences to Mother/Daughter Activities! All of them, though a little stressful at the time, have brought me such joy and fulfillment - mostly because of the associations & friendships I have gained along the way with the youth and fellow leaders! The programs of the Church have taught me all I needed to understand how to raise six children to adulthood; from ideas for meals, to lesson plans for Family Home Evenings, to building self-esteem and confidence; to teaching humility and repentance. And there is always a huge support force from other members in the same walks of life! It's a wonderful life!!!

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Tawnee
I think that for the most part, the Mormon women are vibrant, beautiful and talented! Many are very out-going and the first to volunteer in many a capacity be it Church, School or community. I have worked hours in the PTA programs, planned community parades and celebrations! I have NEVER felt undermined by men in this Church! I know that men can not go to the highest point of exaltation without a woman by his side! I serve every bit as faithfully and valiantly as any man in the auxiliaries of the Church. I feel valued, respected, and appreciated in every sense! My ideas and talents are revered as important and valuable! I have never felt "less than" or "put down"! Quite the opposite - I am often reminded of the honorable place our Father in Heaven has for His daughters! And I feel His love always!! Show more Show less
