Hi I'm Ashley

I'm from Utah. I'm serving as a full-time missionary in Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was varsity for three years in high school on my track team for jumping and now I coach at my old junior high. I also played softball for nine years and took state twice in a row on two different teams. I'm a full time student studying communication with a minor in fashion marketing, but debating on going into secondary education and becoming a gym teacher. I will put my friends and family before anything else, because without them life would just suck.

Why I am a Mormon

I continue in this faith because when I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing or what isn't in line with the church I'm just not very happy. When I do what I'm supposed to and I'm serving others and doing what God wants me to be doing there isn't anything else in this world that brings me more happiness! The knowledge I have from this church brings me so much peace and just gets rid of so many stresses and anxieties, just because I know that God knows more than I do, and whatever he has planned is going to be a thousand times better than anything I could have ever thought of! Even if at the moment I'm going through a hard time I know that there isn't anything I can't get through when I have our Savior Jesus Christ by my side.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday for three hours attending several different meetings or classes teaching us how to become more Christ-like and closer to God. I go as an adult leader for one of our youth activities such as when we went white water rafting down the Colorado River. I look for any opportunity to serve or help other people out, just trying to spread happiness to other people in any way I can.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

I do believe that all Christians churches do have some pieces of truth in them. The difference in the LDS/Mormon Church and other religions is proper authority from God and the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Jesus died his apostles were the last people on earth who had the priesthood and authority from God to perform sacred ordinances and things such as baptism. When the apostles died the priesthood authority they had died with them and it was gone from the earth for thousands of years, a lot of people refer to this as the dark ages or the wording we use in the Church, the Great Apostasy. Without the proper authority on the earth people couldn't receive revelation or inspiration from God to guide and organize Christ's church on the earth. That's why there are so many different Christian faiths all throughout the world. They are different interpretations of the one record they had of Christ, the Bible. With the restoration of Christ's Church on the earth today we have been given the proper authority to perform these sacred ordinances and have been given another testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon along with the Bible. With these two testaments it gives us direct guidance with little room for interpretation of how Christ's Church should be organized. The priesthood has also been restored back to the earth so we now have modern day prophets who give us direct revelation from God to teach and guide us exactly what God wants for us. What is the Book of Mormon?

Just as how the Bible is the record of God's children in the Old World, the Book of Mormon is the record of God's children in the New World (the Americas). There were prophets in both places teaching, prophesying, and testifying of Jesus Christ, His Atonement and how much He loves and cares for us. The book shows another record of Christ after His Resurrection and Him visiting and teaching people in the New World. It gets the name "Book of Mormon" because one of the last prophets named Mormon compiled all the records into what we now know as the Book of Mormon. I know with all my heart that this book is the world of God. It truly testifies of Christ. If you read it, it doesn't have to be the whole book, but if you read it and pray to God asking if the Book of Mormon is true and is the word of God you will receive an answer testifying to you the same thing.
