Hi I'm Eric Kim

I was born in and lived in Bakersfield, California my whole life. I am preparing to serve a mission in Thailand.

About Me

I am a 19 year-old male that stands 6'0, and I weigh 144 pounds. I graduated high school in June 2017. I place a very large emphasis on education in my life, and constantly go out and find new books on subjects, be they on upcoming medicines, engineering, programming, chemistry, economics, or politics. I am a firm believer that there is always a better way to perform a task, and that I am on this Earth to find each and every one of those better ways, for the good of mankind.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and baptized in at the age of 8. I have attended the LDS church for as long as I can remember, a time that stretches back to what must be the age of 3 according to my parents. Although I have never known what it is like to be an outsider to the church, to not have the light of the gospel in my life, I am a firm believer that the doctrine taught in this church is as correct as can be. I have heard for myself many other arguments for other religions and arguments against the LDS church, and none have ever held up as being reasonably sound due to the many assumptions they make. Some say the story of how the church came to be in modern times - a young farm boy being shown the scriptures and translating them from Egyptian hieroglyphics to English - is outlandish. The explanations they give for how Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon - the 'research' he did and the genius insights he made in Biblical doctrine - are either "inspired by the devil," or outright fabricated end up being worse explanations than what he claims is the truth and what millions today testify to be the truth. I sincerely sustain Joseph Smith and the prophets that followed him as being true prophets on the Earth today.

How I live my faith

The more knowledge one has, the more able they can make informed decisions and choose the right path to walk. I live by gaining knowledge of both the scriptures and the world around me in order to make the best choices I can and help other people, should they ever need help.
