Hi I'm Shayla

I've lived in Utah all my life. I did marching band and competitive science in high school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just out of high school and look forward to going to college in a few years after a mission. I want to study to become a licensed Psychologist with a focus on kids and teens. I love working with kids and love seeing their smiles. I have taught myself how to paint and draw and use that to fill my free time. I work as a cashier at a grocery store and love that job because I get to talk with people all day every day. You never know what someone is going to say but they always have something they can add to your day. I'm very much a people person.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and my parent's parents were all members. I've always been impressed to see the happiness and comfort that is found in any home of my family. I choose to continue living the gospel, and even spending 18 months of my life sharing it with others, because I know that it brings happiness to those who choose to follow the principles taught by the church. I love the church and I love the people in the church. I have felt through various trials and spiritual growing periods the truth of the church. I know there are always people to support me in the various organizations in the church even when I don't find support elsewhere. I've grown up in a family of truth and love and I'm excited to share those truths with people who are searching for light in their lives.

How I live my faith

I participate in my church by preparing to serve as a missionary for the church. I'll get to go to a place far from my home and for 18 months serve the people in my area. Every sunday I attend the meetings for church and enjoy being able to spend time with the people of my congregation especially kids. Often times I'll help with children and help teach them the foundations of the gospel.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

It is our responsibility as members of the church to spread the gospel to all the world and "Teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19). We choose to spend some of our time to go and spread the gospel to those who may not otherwise have an opportunity to hear the words of the gospel. I personally am excited to serve for 18 months the people of Texas starting in October. Show more Show less
