Hi I'm John

I grew up in Provo, Utah. I attended BYU after high school for one year, and then served an LDS mission to the Great Lakes.

About Me

I have always loved football and basketball while I attended Provo, High School. I am a fan of BYU sports since I was little. I love my wife and our five children who are all grown up with families of their own. We have 19 grandchildren and each one of them are fantastic! I am retired from the Utah State Courts system after serving for 34 years. I served as a Intake Officer, Probation Officer, and Region Chief and Trial Court Executive, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. degee in 1971 and a Master degree in Public Administration in 1989, also from BYU. I am also retired from the Utah National Guard after serving for 22 years, with the last 16 years in the Finance Unit (USPFO) at Draper, Utah. We enjoy family and the grandchildren since they all live within driving distance of our home. We have served in a number of capacities in the Church and plan to continue to serve in the years we have ahead.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so thankful for parents who set a good example in our family. My mother asked me to read a book called Book of Mormon Stories at a young age and explained to me that when I was older I should read the Book of Mormon. Those short stories which were easy to read left me with a respect for Lehi and Nephi and other prophets of that time period and how faithful they were is serving and following the commandments of the Lord. I had a desire to be more like them and began to develop a faith and testimony. I attended seminary in high school and learned from each of my teachers. My mission strengthened my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and I have felt the spirit as I have lived worthy of that blessing.

How I live my faith

I have served as a missionary, teachers and priest quorum adviser, counselor in the bishopric and as Bishop. I have also served as a singles ward finance clerk, stake membership clerk, and ward clerk most recently.
