Hi I'm CJ

I was born and raised in rural Southern Illinois. I'm the youngest of seven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports and the outdoors. My favorite sports are ultimate frisbee and soccer. I earned my eagle scout and attended the National Scout Jamboree in 2010. I just finished my first year at college studying chemical engineering, and I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for the church in the Cote d'Ivoire Abidjan mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, grandparents, and older siblings are all active in the church. I have learned from their testimonies and they have helped me to gain one for myself. So I would say it has been easy for me to be a member of this church. However, that is not to say that I don't know it is true for myself. Over the years I have learned more and more about Jesus Christ and His gospel, and as I apply what I learn, I have seen amazing blessings and peace in my life. That's how I know it's true, and that's why I continue to live it. Why would I not want to live this way when I have seen how much happiness it has brought to me and my family? I would have so many questions and concerns if I did not know this gospel to be true. I know that God loves me, which is the greatest feeling in the world. I came to that knowledge because I am a Mormon. Without that knowledge, I would feel lost. What would be the purpose of this life? I know that God does have a plan for His children, and He has a plan for me, and I want to follow that plan because I know it makes Him happy. And with all the happiness He has given me, bringing Him a little joy through my obedience is the best thing I can do

How I live my faith

My favorite things to do as a part of my church are spending time with the local missionaries and attending my weekly institute class and activities for the young single adults in the area where I live. I visit people with the missionaries just about every week and learn a lot from hearing them teach and interact with people. I look forward to the time when I will be able to be a missionary. Institute is a class for young single adults where we learn about the scriptures and the church and help strengthen each other's faith. I also enjoy attending my church meetings every Sunday. It is fun and uplifting to gather with other people of my faith and worship God and Jesus Christ. It is always a great start to my week.
