Hi I'm Shelby

I'm from Utah. I'm a ballarina at heart. I find myself in serving others. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Shelby. Here is a little about myself. I love to dance, I have been a ballet dancer since I was 6 years old. Ballet has tought me so much, such as, "life is not about how many times you fall down, its about how many times you get back up". I also play the violin. I love how one can create something beautiful out of something so small. Some other interests of mine include, reading, hiking, skiing, horseback riding, cross-stiching and more. This past year has been crazy and wonderful. I got a job, attended college to become a nurse, and have now been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I will be serving in California, and I'm so very excited!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of my life. When I was little my mother would always make it a priority to bring us to church each Sunday. At first, I didn't fully understand the importance of the gospel in my life. Many times I would tell my mom that I was too sick to go to church, she would let me stay home but the funny thing is that the next day I would actually be sick. As I grew up, slowly, I began to see Christ's light in my life. Like my previous story, coming to know that the gospel was true was never anything big or extravigent, it was small things in my daily life that gave me a testimony of Christ's Church. One of these excperiance was through out my childhood. I always had this fear of being alone, although I do not remember how this phobia came about, it was a very hard trial. I would find myself, very often, in tears waiting for my parents to come home from work or date night. In high school I was afraid to leave my friends who had become a bad influence, out of fear of being alone. Even though this was a big trial in my life, through the gospel I found strength to endure. When ever I felt alone, I would pray and read the Book of Mormon often. Ever time I did so, I was filled with peace that caused my fear to vanish. I was give courage to leave my friends and was soon guided to the greatest friends I could ever ask for. Through this excperiance and many other I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know and love me. That even if I was alone physically I would never truly be alone because Christ would always be there for me to guide, comfort, and strengthen me. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live. We are children of God, who loves us more than we will ever know. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that as we read it, we will be filled with peace and receive guidance thought out our life. I know that as we come unto Christ our fears will vanish in the light Him who has saved us all.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service and loving those around me. Right now I go to the singles ward ( which is an amazing experience). In this Ward I serve on the outreach commite. In this commite we reach out to those who are now 18 years old, we get to know them and help them feel welcome in the singles ward. I really have enjoyed this calling for many reasons, one of which is having the opportunity to meet and create friendships with many wonderful and amazing people.
