Hi I'm Colton

I've lived in Utah my whole life. I'm a huge fan of soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was young I was hopping around to different schools and I never really stayed in one place too long due to certain circumstances. It wasn't until junior high when things started to settle down. Since then I've had the best group of friends anyone could ask for. I've also had the best parents in the world that have always believed in me and they were always putting me into sports and other activities growing up. This is how I gained a huge love for soccer.I've also gotten a black belt in karate and love being outdoors. I also have 4 brothers and 1 sister in total and I know that they will have the same opportunities that I got as I'm the oldest.

Why I am a Mormon

I consider myself lucky as I look back on my ancestry because my parents were the first real members of the church before I was born. This gave me the opportunity to experience the church growing up. However, this isn't why I'm a Mormon. I've had a few trials in my life that actually really distracted me from what really mattered. As I said previously EFY has had a huge impact on my views and acceptance of the church. Ever since I've attended EFY I've had undeniable feelings that Christ died and suffered for me. There is a personal link between me and the Savior. I've felt this through much prayer and personal scripture study. I feel so much love for people when I'm in tune with the teachings of Christ. This is a very respectable feeling in the sense that Jesus Christ has this type of unconditional love for his people. This is how the Spirit speaks to me and I know that if I'm feeling this then I will make the right choices.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am graduated from high school and that's a big milestone for anyone. I have now been called to go to the Philippines for two years to serve and teach the people there. Growing up I've always gone to church, but I've never really gotten into it until a few years ago. I had an opportunity to go to a week long event called EFY (especially for youth) which had a lot of fun activities. There is one day in particular though that you go and do spiritual things all day long. Seeing everyone's testimonies and how they truly viewed the church really opened up my eyes to what really mattered to me. After my first year at EFY I knew that I was going to serve an LDS mission. I've met so many amazing people and deepened my faith in Christ. Especially the last year I've been super diligent in trying to prepare myself to go. It seems almost unreal that I'm about to leave, but I know that this is what God wants for me.
