Hi I'm Atlas

I was born in Utah moved around a few times, and I've helped build two homes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I finished high school a year early. Took a computer sciences class and enjoyed it but not sure if I'll pursue it. I played soccer through high school. I am a general handyman working on my family's cars and weekend projects and have helped build our last two homes. I like fishing and archery when i have the time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church and as I've grown older I began to question why I was still going to the church. After missing church one day because of travel I came home drained. I felt miserable; I wasn't hurting or unhappy and I still laughed and had fun but everything just felt more diminished, as if I was watching myself experience it. When Sunday came around, I walked in and I got that feeling when you've been out in cold weather and drink hot chocolate or when it so hot you're melting and you get handed cool lemonade. It was just a pure sensation of relief and comfort and hope and energy that flowed into me the longer I stayed. I haven't lived very long but I've seen fasting bless lives and I've seen priesthood ordinances like baptism and the sacrament bring the hope of salvation to a person's eyes and each time I feel my own desire for salvation and redemption grow. I know Joseph Smith was given help from God to translate the Book of Mormon and that he was given the Lord's power and authority through the priesthood to help His people on the Earth and that the chain of power goes unbroken from the Savior down to the current prophet and even to me. I know that we can and will be saved if we obey the commandments God gives us. I remain a member because this is where I find I am closest to God and where I can find redemption from sin and salvation in the world to come.

How I live my faith

I have been a youth representative in Bishop councils; where I would inform him about each persons struggles and successes each month and plan for ways to help or encourage growth. I have organized youth Wednesday night activities like bowling, dances, and devotionals. I would also home teach one or two families each month and see if they needed any help with anything. I have repaired plumbing and prepared meals for families that requested help.
