Hi I'm Dennis

I grew up in Minnesota. I joined the USAF after college. Now I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. I am a US Air Force veteran and love America. I have worked as an accountant, electrical engineer, salesman, retail manager, auto service assistant, and electrical service technical writer. I have completed 10 years of college. I am a retired professional student. I love learning about many different things. My current learning project is my family history. I thought I was Norwegian and German (50/50). I sent my DNA to Ancestry.com and found some very interesting results. I continue to search for more family on my tree. I currently have over 17,000 relatives identified.

Why I am a Mormon

I attended a parochial elementary school where I studied the Bible regularly. After my confirmation I asked a close friend about why we were here on earth. After completing college I joined the USAF. We moved from Texas to California to Texas to Florida. During this time I had some special experiences which prepared me to listen to the Mormon missionaries. They not only taught me why I was on this earth but also who I really was (a child of God), and where I would go after this life. I prayed about what they taught and received a definite answer from God that what they taught was true. I did not give up my belief in the Bible but added so much more to my knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father and purpose of life. I have read the Book of Mormon many times. It is the true word of God and a second witness that Jesus is the Christ and Savior of all mankind. I invite all to read this book and sincerely ask God if it is true.

How I live my faith

I know that Heavenly Father is a real person. He is the literal Father of our eternal spirits. Jesus Christ is our brother and Savior. I try to live all of their commandments and have found peace from doing so. Since joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have learned so much. I am no longer a quiet, shy person but love to meet new people and learn about their lives. I have been called to serve in several positions of leadership including 30+ years as bishop/branch president or counselor. I have been so richly blessed so I try to help others whenever possible.
