Hi I'm Rebecca

I call Texas home. I love my family. Music is my favorite form of expression. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a strong Mormon family and have always grown up in the church. I have loved to sing since I could talk and have almost always been a member of one choir or another. In middle school, I started doing theatre and continued that through high school. Recently, I completed my freshman year of college studying music and theatre. I want to be a choral director after I graduate! My other love is flying. My dad is a pilot and instilled that love of the sky in me from a young age. One day, I want to have my own pilot's license. There is something magical about the way man has used their intellect and imagination to figure out how to defy expectation and become a bird for a little while. My family and friends are the most important thing in my life besides my faith. I would not be who I am without the influences of wonderful parents, siblings, extended family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the way back to my Heavenly home. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and gives me so much guidance and direction in my life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of Christ's gospel and the proper authority on the Earth today. I am a Mormon because I want that lasting joy in my life that I can't find anywhere else. This testimony and conversion did not come all at once, but instead was a series of small and simple steps of faith towards my Heavenly Father. It was the feeling of peace I received when I was struggling, the blessings I have felt in the temple, and the Spirit I have felt when God answers my prayers. As I have lived the gospel, I have gained a witness that it is true. It takes action, it takes work, it isn't easy, and sometime it requires sacrifice. However, the blessings I have received and the knowledge I have gained far outweigh the burdens. I can be with my family forever. I can talk to God and He will answer me. I can grow in faith. I can do all things because of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving others. God's first two great commandments were to love God and love others. Loving other people means supporting them when they need it. Answering their requests and taking true interest in them and their lives. I have decided to dedicate the next 18 months of my life to serving and loving God and other people as a missionary. I want to share my faith with others because it is the one thing that brings me true joy and happiness. I want others to have the same joy that I have experienced because of my testimony and membership in the church.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Rebecca
YES! How amazing is it that God still speaks through a prophet today?! God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, so why would he stop talking to His children that He loves so dearly? God can give us direction personally through personal revelation, but on the whole, the church is directed by a living prophet, just like it was in the times of the Bible and Book of Mormon. Today, Thomas S. Monson is the prophet, called of God to receive revelation and direction for God's children on Earth today. The doctrine of Christ stays the same, despite what the world says. Prophets help us to interpret and apply doctrine in the ways that help us to be happier and closer to the Spirit. Show more Show less
