Hi I'm Janessa

I am from Provo, Utah, I grew up dancing and teaching dance, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up dancing almost my entire life. When I was fourteen I actually started teaching and having my own team. I absolutely love reading and my favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Watching movies are another thing that I love to do and have influenced my love for acting. I am ethnically diverse having family from South America to Canada and also Europe. I've just completed my first year of college and am currently pursuing a Modern Dance major. I am very interested in joining the Peace Corps or any other humanitarian group that travels to help, children specifically, around the world. I am also interested in the arts such as theater, singing, and acting and wouldn't mind finding a career that features all of the above.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the gospel I was given very good examples to follow since the day that I was born. And I had always felt that there was a sense of truth in everything that I was being taught. However, it was around the age of thirteen that I really set off on a journey to discover a testimony for myself. I had already read the Book of Mormon and gained a testimony as to its truth and of the fact that it is indeed the word of God. After doing this it was a matter of constant prayer and following the Lords commandments. It was at this age that I was beginning to be bullied a lot at school and it was one of the most trying times of my life. However, the previous year I had made a promise to read my scriptures every night, and because of this even though getting through daily life was difficult I was able to make it through the school year with the Lord as my crutch. That summer after I turned fourteen I truly became a convert to the church because I had learned for myself the love that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for me, and the power in following their commandments.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the simple things, by reading my scriptures, attending church, and always striving to be worthy of a temple recommend. I attend the temple every week and have recently been called to be a Temple Worker on Saturday nights. This involves helping other people navigate their way through the temple and assisting them in making sacred temple covenants for themselves and others.
