Hi I'm Joseph Duque

I come from a family of Filipino immigrants and British Mormon pioneers. I love drawing, music, and tennis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old. I was born in California, and I grew up in Idaho. I am the youngest in my family and have three older sisters. My dad was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a young. My mom was born in the United States and comes from Mormon pioneer heritage. My favorite foods are strawberries, chicken adobo and rice, and trout and potatoes. I've played tennis my whole life and I played number one boy's doubles on my high school team. As a senior my partner and I got second place at State! During high school I also played alto saxophone in band and in solo competitions. I love playing and listening to music. I love watching movies and cartoons. I love to draw and make art. In the future I'd like to be a storyboard artist or graphic novelist.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the importance of family and love. My family means everything to me, and through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, families can be together forever. Family is eternal. When we love and serve other people, we are really showing our love to God and serving Him. When we truly love our neighbors through service or acting Christ-like, then we feel God's love for us. God knows and loves us personally, and he wants what's best for us. He has provided a way to fully repent of sins and live happily forever. I have felt His love and His grace, and I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that our Heavenly Father has a plan to live with Him again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. Over the past few years my church gave me assignments to serve my peers and neighbors. I lead other boys my age and organized church activities and learning experiences, including scouting trips and youth outings. I've also had the church calling of Family History Consultant, and had the chance to help my friends and neighbors research their genealogy.
