Hi I'm Matthew

I grew up in Pocatello, Idaho. I love the outdoors and my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an 18 year old Idaho boy who loves the outdoors. I enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and shooting. I love my family and my bloodhound Mollie. I plan to go to college and I want to be a Petroleum geologist. You can usually find me at home with my family or riding around in my 1994 chevy truck.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. I had been taught by my parents, and was led by their example through my life. The time came to stop following my parents and find out the truth for myself. So I prayed asking if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true. I don't really remember how old I was or where I was when I prayed, but I remember the strong intense feeling of the spirit over my entire body, that this church is true. I never really doubted that it wasn't true, but I really wanted to know with a certainty. Now even though I had a personally witness of the truth, I started to struggle around the age of 12. My struggle never came with the teachings of the church, but with the people. I had people that I would see in church that really bothered me. So I would not go all the time, or to many activities. It really ruined Sundays for me sometimes. Then it hit me in the voice of my mom. Matthew, we don't go for the people. With this guidance I went to church with a different attitude. I looked over personal feeling and tried to focus on the teachings, and let me tell you, from then on. I once again loved church and loved going to the activities. The spirit once again testified to me through my mom what is true. I love the savior Jesus Christ. So much that words cannot describe. Knowing that this is his church is amazing. This church provides me and my family with so much happiness and blessings. I can't imagine what my life would be like without it. Through the good times and the bad, when you lose some faith or once again have found it, I have learned that only through the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is true joy felt.I know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet, called by God.That he translated the Book of Mormon, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Jesus is the Christ. Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet on the earth today. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by trying to following the rules and being a good example. Wherever I go I try to model to my best ability the things that I have been taught, like loving thy neighbor and serving others in need. It is very important to me that people don't get any bad intentions of the church by how I live. In my area the church has been a great example. Me and the group of young men that I grew up with are very close. We like teaching our friends about what we believe and reaching out to the community with service. I was able to serve as a leader over the young men in my church, and I was able to organize events like service projects or fun events like playing ultimate frisbee in the local ball field.
