Hi I'm Madison

I'm a convert. I love genealogy and sloths. I'm a college student, a future wildlife biologist, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a freshmen in college. I have two older brothers and my parents are divorced. I'm the only one in my family that is in the church and I just got baptized in March. I love to go hiking and I love to travel. I've been to several different states and one other country (Italy). I enjoy camping and fishing and one day I want to become a wildlife biologist for National Park Services.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the gospel in 2013 by my friend. It was our freshmen year of high school and she invited me to go to a church dance with her. So I went and we had a lot of fun and I spent the night at her house in which she asked if I would like to go to church with her the next day. I didn't think anything of it so I said yes because I didn't have my own church at the time anyway (my parents aren't too religious). It was very different to me than other churches I had been too. There wasn't a priest or pastor so I thought that was kinda odd. As I continuously went to church dances and then church the next day with my friend, I did question the things that they were saying at first. I didn't understand the priesthood and as a Texan I didn't understand not drinking tea either. But as I progressed and went to my first youth conference, I felt the spirit for the first time. It was at the end of the youth conference when we had testimonial meeting. When my friend who invited me got up there and said her testimony I felt the spirit for the very first time. I cried a lot. I didn't quite understand it until a member of the stake presidency had told me that it was Heavenly Father welcoming me home again in which I finally understood. That was the moment I knew I wanted to be apart of this church. So when I went home I told my mother that I wanted to start taking the missionary lessons and she responded with no. It hurt me very much to feel that rejection from someone so close to me. So the year went on and my testimony of the church grew and grew. The beginning of my junior year had not started off well in the fact that my mother and I had a fight about the church in which I was not allowed to go it anymore. One of the more difficult times in my life. I wasn't able to go to church until I turned 18 which would be a year later. But I stuck it out and I was finally able to go back in October 2016 and baptized in March 2017. Joining this church has been the best decision.

How I live my faith

I teach primary which are the little kids at church. I love to go to church every Sunday and read my scriptures. I am continuously learning from the gospel and I attend family history classes at my library every Thursday with the missionaries and a few other members.
