Hi I'm Richard Wilson

I'm a Mormon. I grew in Southern Utah. I got a Masters Degree and have been a CEO of two different start-up Companies.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Southern Utah. At an early age I learn to milked cows. I never did like it, but I definitely learned how to "work" on the farm. I started playing little league when I was 9 and then played baseball, football, basketball, and track in High School. I was fortunate to be elected Student body President of my High School. I had four other siblings in my family that I am still very close with to this day. All of that contributed to a strong foundation for my life. I married the girl who I used to play "no bears are out tonight" at the age of 5. We have now have five children of our own that are all married and we proudly claim 24 wonderful and delightful grandchildren. I got a Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior at Brigham Young University. I went on to become an executive in a Management Training and Consulting company in the California Bay Area. That lead to the opportunity to become a CEO of two different start-up companies. All of which brought a lot of growth, challenges, and fulfillment. We are now embarking on a mission for our church in the great state of South Carolina.

Why I am a Mormon

I was very fortunate to be raised in this church. But just like everyone else who has had to come to know for themselves whether this church as true or not, I was no different. There was a time when I was first in college that my faith got tested. I had to know if the Book of Mormon really was the word of God. Was Joseph really a prophet that had translated that book by the gift and power of God? It really all came down to that. So, I read and read and prayed and prayed. The answer came very clearly and distinctly. From the top of my head to the bottom of my feet I was filled with a tingling that I knew could only be the Holy Spirit. I knew the church was true and that God had indeed once again restored his full and complete church with his Priesthood back to the earth. Since that day, I have had that witness re-affirmed over and over again. There is no question in my mind. And following the teachings of this church and it's commandments, I have found more joy and happiness than I ever thought was possible. I wish the same for everyone.

How I live my faith

I have had a lot of opportunity to serve in leadership positions in our wards and Stakes where we have lived. From Bishop in a YSA Ward to three different Stake Presidencies. To Young Men's President to Priests Adviser. I have always worked with the youth in the church in what ever leadership capacity I have been in. That has brought me a lot of joy and helps to keep me feeling young. Working with the youth has helped me to see what good hands the church is going to be in as we move into the future. This is a difficult and troubled world we live in. Yet, the youth of this church are as strong and virtuous and good as I have ever seen. What a privilege to serve with them.
