Hi I'm Abby Taylor

I'm from Burley Idaho, I'm an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention volunteer, I work in special olympics and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who likes to stay busy and try everything I possible can. In high school I ran track, took part in student council, choir, theater, yearbook, service clubs, business clubs, peer tutor, special olympics, etc. You name it, I was there. I worked 2 jobs this summer, I worked in a grocery store as a cashier and I was also a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and a Lifeguard. So like I said pretty crazy life I like to live. What makes this all slightly more interesting is I do all this while battling crippling anxiety. One thing that I am most proud of about myself is I am a suicide attempt survivor and I have tried to live my life as an example that things can and will get better. I've had the opportunity to speak about my experiences struggling with my mental illness and suicide through social media and even spoke to a couple schools. The number one thing that has gotten me this far and helped me through all these difficult trials as a struggle with this mental illness is my faith in Christ. I would never be the person I am now if it wasn't for Him always picking me up when I fall down. That is why I am here, to be more like Christ and help pick others up when they stumble and fall.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the joy and happiness I feel when I am living the gospel. It is a feeling I only can feel when I am following God and living a righteous life. I did grow up Mormon but there were times when I didn't feel this way the times when I became lazy and cold towards God and his church I didn't know for myself the church was true. But then there came a point in my life where all I could do was a major trust fall hoping God would catch me, and he did! I continue to live this Gospel because I know it is true and the only thing that can ever bring me true happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to walk with my Lord. I try my best to be Christlike and have a love for everyone and everything around me. I am patient and do my best to see the best in others. I attend church every week and I love it more everytime I get to go. I read my scriptures and say my prayers daily. I live my faith the best way I know how. I do this because I love the feeling I get when I do. I love the happiness I feel and how I always have a better day when I do these things. I live my faith focused on God and what he wants me to be doing. I live my faith because I love my Lord and this gospel.
