Hi I'm Ross

I grew up on a dairy farm. I am a retired civil engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in small town where my father and his brother ran a dairy and sheep ranch. My best friend was my cousin and we did everything together until we married. I have five children and twenty one grandchildren. I enjoy working with wood and writing computer programs. I served a Mormon mission. I graduated from college with a degree in Civil and Enivormental Engineering. In my professional career I have had two different employers, an municipality and a private engineering company working for each approximately twenty years. I am enjoying spending time with my family and serving in the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember as a youth thinking why am I doing all this responsibilities. I decided to prayer to Heavenly Father and ask him if the Book of Mormon was a true book. I received the most wonderful feeling letting me know that the Book of Mormon was true. If the Book of Mormon is true then Joseph Smith had to be a true profit of Jesus Christ. From that time on I have felt that same warm feeling which is the Holy Ghost as I have served in his church. As you help others we are doing things Christ has asked us to do. He will bless us as we keep his commandments. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so much joy into my life.

How I live my faith

My parents were both active in the church so I have been active all my life. As a child I attended church with my parents and attended activities for children. As youth I was asked to be in leadership positions. I served a two year mission in a foreign county. As a single young adult I had the responsibility of planning activity for a small group of young adults. For most of my adult life I have been in a leadership reponsibility for the youth of the church. This involved teaching a lesson on Sunday and help palnning with the youth leaders weekly activities during the week such as scouting and youth conference. One of the most rememberable youth conferences was when we acted out events that occurred in the Book of Mormon. I had the opportunity to be a leader of a ward of approximate 400 members of the church. After I retired I was asked to teach the children on Sunday. What a great opportunity it was to teach the small children the gospel of Jesus Christ. My wife and I now have the privilege to serve a full time mission for one year.
