Hi I'm Carson Sork

I'm a Mormon from Vancouver, Washington currently serving a full-time mission for the Church in Brazil.

About Me

Right now I am serving a full-time mission for the Church (2 years) in Brazil and following Christ's example as I serve and preach the gospel to others. When I get back, I will be attending BYU in Provo, Utah. I love to stay active through exercise like running and weightlifting. I enjoy playing sports with friends though I'm not too serious about any of them. My favorite summer activity is water skiing, and as of recently I've taken up skiing on the mountain in the winter. Right now I'm interested in going into the medical field and becoming a doctor. I love music and play both the piano and the violin. I have two older brothers and a younger sister who I love so much. My parents have raised us in the Church and I am so thankful for the blessing it has been in my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised by my parents in the Church. My dad was a convert and my mom has been a member all her life. They taught me and my siblings the Gospel but made sure to let us use our agency (choose for ourselves) the path we wanted to take and whether or not to be a member of the church. When I was 8 I chose to be baptized, and since then have continued to choose to be a faithful member of the Church. I choose to be a member and follow His gospel because I have experienced and also seen the effects that life can have on us, and what bad decisions can do to us. The churches teachings gives me the direction I need to stay on a path to live with Heavenly Father again, and also to be truly happy while I am here on Earth. Some people think that being a member of the LDS church would be hard because of the standards we have, but I can testify that it is truly these standards that have made my life so much easier. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he translated the Book of Mormon by direction of our Heavenly Father, to bless the lives of us here on earth in these latter days. I also know of the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, that through is sacrifice we can be forgiven of our sins and be strengthened of our weaknesses. I am so thankful for the blessing of the church in my life.

How I live my faith

As an Elder I will be living my faith by serving as a missionary and representing Christ in thought and action as I teach people the gospel. Just like Jesus served others and taught the Gospel, growing the Church, so I will do in Brazil for the next few years. Back in Vancouver I was a home teacher and visited families in the area to meet any needs they may have and bring them messages to invite the spirit into their home. I also played a role in the Young Men's youth program of the church, organizing service activities and fun outings with other guys my age.
