Hi I'm Dave

I grew up in Southern California periodically attending a church of another faith. At age 16 I was baptized a Mormon.

About Me

I am now retired. My wife of 40+ years and I have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. I enjoy basketball, backpacking, playing with the grand kids and helping other people.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 16 I was invited to play on the local Mormon basketball team. I enjoyed playing basketball and the association with other people my age. During the basketball season I decided I should also attend the Mormon church. After a few months my friend Jim, who invited me to play on the basketball team, then invited me to meet with the missionaries. I did so and when they taught me about the Plan of Salvation (where did I came from, why was I here on earth, and where do I go when I die) and about Joseph Smith. I received a feeling that what they said was true. I got that same feeling as I was reading the Book of Mormon. So I decided to be baptized. I was the only one in my family to be baptized. I am now retired and know that the decision to be baptized was the best decision I have ever made.

How I live my faith

I do some volunteer work in my community, even was on the City Council for a short period of time (filling a vacancy). I work with young men through the boy scout program. After 7 years as a Scoutmaster I now provide guidance to other scoutmasters and assist scouts on their trail to Eagle Scout. I strive to live my religion in my every day life, and find that brings me happiness and joy.
