Hi I'm Trevor

I was born and raised in Utah. I love science, mathematics, and learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a newly graduated high school student. I plan on attending BYU to study Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering after I return from my mission to Goiania, Brazil. I love to learn, especially mathematics and science. I was even the president of my school's very successful math club. I also enjoy many different sports, ranging from basketball, to soccer, to football.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the LDS Church my entire life, but it wasn't until my family went on a road trip to the sacred grove (the place where Joseph Smith saw The Father and Jesus Christ) when I was an early teenager that I realized the truth of this gospel. My older brother had just returned home from his mission when we went to the sacred grove. While there, each of the family members got to have a bit of alone time there. When I went off into the grove to pray, I was expecting to have a life changing, Joseph Smith like moment, but as I prayed, I didn't feel anything (or at least I didn't recognize that I felt the peace the spirit brings). When it came time to regroup with my family, I returned feeling rather discouraged. Then, I found my older brother also walking to the rendezvous point. My older brother put his arm around me and said, "The spirit's amazing, isn't it?" It was at that moment where I was hit with an overwhelming sense of the spirit. It warmed my chest, I felt of God's love for me as the feeling affirmed that everything I had been taught my entire life related to this gospel was true. The feeling was so strong, it moved me to tears. To this day, whenever I look back on this experience, I can feel the spirit again, reaffirming God's love for me on an individual level. This experience was life changing. Throughout the rest of my life, whenever I began to doubt my faith in the church, I would remember my experience in the sacred grove and the undeniable feeling that came from something beyond this world.

How I live my faith

Throughout my life, I have served in many different callings in my ward and stake, especially with my fellow young men. I have loved serving because it allows me to have the opportunity to serve the young men of my ward by being their friend when they may not have any others, helping them with their math homework, or listening to their struggles in a time of need. Through doing this, I have made many lifelong friends I will never forget and I have grown closer to Jesus Christ as I act as his representative.
