Hi I'm Darien

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I have been called to serve in the Finland Helsinki Mission.

About Me

I am from Portland, Oregon where I graduated High School from. I loved math, physics, and other science classes while I attended. I also loved to run and was on the Cross Country and Track teams. I completed my mission papers toward the end of my senior year and I was called to serve in the Finland Helsinki Mission. I report to the Provo MTC on October 4th, 2017 and I will be speaking the Finnish language. When I return from my mission I will attend BYU Provo where I will major in statistics and continue the rest of my life. I love this Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an LDS family where I began going to church and studying the scriptures at a very young age. At the age of 8, I was baptized as a member and soon had more responsibilities within the church. As I was growing up I also attended youth activities within the church and went to seminary starting my freshman year in High School. While I always had a feeling the church was true, I never fully pondered the question until my High School years; when my faith was tested the most. Finally, I really began pondering the question about the truthfulness of this Gospel and began studying the scriptures and praying to my Heavenly Father. After some time I received the answer that this gospel is the truth and that I should pray and study the scriptures as much as possible. I can't deny the feelings I've felt from the spirit or the truth that lies before me. That's why I've never gone back on what I know and why I continue trying to be like Jesus Christ, our savior and redeemer.

How I live my faith

I attend church every possible Sunday with my family. While I was growing up, I held leadership positions within my age groups at church. Often times I was in charge of planning and organizing events for the youth ages 12-18. Along with that, I also visit members and help people within our church community when necessary. I will soon become a full time missionary where I will be helping others as much as possible every single day for 2 years. Throughout High School I also attended a seminary class every morning before school where we would read and study the scriptures. On my own, I also read my scriptures and work on developing a relationship with our Heavenly Father.
