Hi I'm Carter

I grew up in Oregon. I played a lot of sports and got called to serve in the Cote d'Ivoire. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I just recently graduated High School in June 2017. During High school I played basketball, tennis, and swimming. I also took piano lessons for over 10 years and earned my eagle scout and Duty to God awards. I am currently attending Brigham Young University and will leave in October to serve a mission in the West African area. I have lived in the same area my whole life. Most of my interests and hobbies revolve around sports, however in my free time I generally just prefer to be active.

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up in a mormon family, it was routine to go to church and participate in church activities. When I was younger, I was never sure of the truthfulness of the church, but I believed it and I saw my parents and older siblings become so happy as they lived the gospel. One summer when I was about 16 I went to a church camp with my cousin and that is where I developed a scripture study habit where I read my scriptures every night and record my thoughts, insights, or just specific verses into a journal. As I read the scriptures diligently, I developed a testimony, strongly supported by prayer and scripture study, and it just made my life better in general and made me a happier person. I am a mormon today and I am going on a mission because I realize the joy and peace that this gospel can bring someone and I want to make sure I never lose that peace and I want to give others the opportunity to obtain the happiness and love that this gospel allows us to feel.

How I live my faith

Living in the same ward for the first 18 years of my life, my assignment for 6 of those 18 years consisted of a few different jobs. I was always working with the young men either my age or younger and the assignment I had usually called me to help plan activities, lead and welcome new members of the young mens program, teaching lessons on Sundays, Going home teaching, and helping to administer, pass, and bless the sacrament.
