Hi I'm Rayna

I'm Josl-Kend-Sie-Lil-RAYNA! Or sometimes just "that one." I'm the middle child of a big family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fourth of six children in my family and the third one to go serve a full-time mission. I am from the top of the mountains: land-locked and freezing cold. I am going to a hot, humid island to labor in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission. I enjoy singing, playing the French Horn, and visiting the temple. My mother and older sisters and I all speak Gilmore-Girls (it's a show? It's a lifestyle. Some may call it a religion, but I'm very fond of the one I already have so...) I love my family; my two big sisters, two little sisters, two nieces, and one big brother (he's my favorite). I'm grateful for the good examples my older siblings set for me and I hope I'm setting a good one for my little sisters. I'm very close to my friends, who are now scattered around the world in colleges or on missions. I'm so proud of them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have discovered that it is the truth. It is so amazing to discover that something so wonderful is actually true. An all-powerful God that continuously guides His church through prophets and apostles? Families can be together forever? No mistake is beyond the hope of the Atonement? It's not too late to save the dead? We can pray to God? He will answer? He knows you by name and loves you endlessly?? I am a child of God? It almost sounds too good to be true. Thankfully, it isn't. It is absolutely perfect and full of hope and love. And it is the truth. I can't wait to share this message with the people in the Dominican Republic. I grew up surrounded by the testimonies of my parents, siblings, and church leaders. It was simply accepted until I was a teenager and I wanted my own testimony. I want to know for myself that this is true, and I certainty hoped that it was. I was going through a really hard time and started to pray to my Heavenly Father, having been taught that He would hear and answer my pleas for help. I felt like I was talking to a wall. Nobody could hear me. Nobody cared. Never before and prayer felt so lonely. I kept praying and crying and begged to be heard. I felt the Holy Ghost tell me to read my scriptures. I opened up my Book of Mormon immediately and the first thing I read was "known unto God were all their cries." After reading that I felt a surge of love from my Heavenly Father and the Spirit testified that this is the truth. Heavenly Father is really there and he hears and answers every child's prayer. Some say that Heaven is far away, but I feel it close around me as I pray. I learned how to have a conversation with my Father. He hears every prayer I offer and He communicates to me through the Holy Ghost, scriptures, prophets, my family, or friends. I know His church is true and invite you to ask Him yourself so you may know it too. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

I attend my church meetings every Sunday and enjoy participating in the choirs. Every month, I visit one of our temples. In November, I will leave for my mission and every day will invite people to come unto Christ.
