Hi I'm Yenny Mo

I grew up in China and in St. Maarten. I am studying now in the Netherlands and I am a Mormon since 2016.

About Me

I am a college student in the Netherlands. I love music, singing church songs and playing piano. I am very happy and grateful about knowing God and the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Chinese culture in which we have to worship and perform rituals for our ancestors monthly. My impression of it is fear in darkness. I was constantly sick with fevers and had visited many doctors since I was one. Until a period that my grandma thought it is necessary to visit the sooth prayer for an understanding of why I am always ill. The sooth prayer looked at my palm and said I am an unfortunate child and some kind of superstitious rituals that need to be performed in order for me to become normal, and they are over thousands of Chinese dollars which value a lot in China. All that happened did not make things any better, but accumulation of fear increased, fear of ghosts and deaths. As I moved to St. Maarten, we didn't have all the things we need to worship our ancestors therefore I couldn't perform any rituals during Chinese holidays.Surprising fear was gone but anxiety came due to heavy workload from school and work, I started to miss my grandparents and afraid of their deaths which might come at any time. I started to wonder why am I here on earth and what's the point of living if I don't have my grandparents to be with me. As I finished high school, I moved with my sister to the Netherlands to pursue our bachelor degrees in business. There came a period in which we were seeking for a church to attend rather than simply studying everyday. My sister met the missionaries while walking home from school. They came to teach us about the Gospel every week, not only Gospel knowledge they had shared with us, we felt their love and care and I am happy ever since then. I know death is not the end and the purpose of life. I know that we are all children of God and every challenge we have in life has its purpose which always brings us closer to Him by learning new things. My life is full of joy and peace because of Him.

How I live my faith

I am currently a church activity leader who help to organize monthly activities for women to strengthen friendship, to share love, to know each other more and to help the needies and to take care of each other. Prayer is what I do every day and every time when I feel sad or happy or grateful, I turn to Him and He hears me, and He speaks to me. Because in this mortal life we cannot see Him, I can only see Him in prayers. I read scriptures every morning before the day start, when they became too hard to understand I read them together with student manual. I go to the church every Sunday, listen to church musics and watch church movies and video which are uplifting with eternal values, these help me in having the Spirit of God to be with me always and to remember what Jesus Christ had done for me and what I should do in return.
