Hi I'm Alyssa

I was born and raised in Utah. I am a soon-to-be missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I finished my first year of college last April. Not sure yet what I'm studying, but I'm sure I will figure it out eventually. I enjoy trail running in the nearby Utah mountains. I am somewhat of a health nut, but I am a foodie, and consider food very important. I love spending time hiking with my friends and playing board games with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized at age eight, and all my family and everyone around me at school was Mormon, as well. I never questioned if I knew this was the true church, I always knew in my heart, and in my mind, that this was Christ's church upon the Earth today. My freshman year of college was very difficult for me. I felt I had no friends, I had no one I could turn to. I felt alone, unimportant and unloved. For several months, I was consumed by this dark state of mind. I soon began to realize that these feelings of loneliness and insignificance, were largely because my relationship with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father were not a priority for me. I began to change my study habits, to schedule in time during my busy semester, to study the scriptures, pray, and strengthen my relationship with Deity. I noticed changes in my life, as I prayed more sincerely, studying the scriptures with more focus, and attended church with an open-heart. As I grew closer to my Savior, I began to change. I opened myself up to others, I build real friendships with those around me. I felt happier than I had before. So much happier. I know that as we choose to "come unto Christ", He will receive us with open, loving arms. I know that change is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can always become better and better. He wants to help us, to comfort us, to bless us beyond what we think we deserve. Sometimes, we just have to be willing to make the first step in his direction. I chose to be a Mormon, because I truly know this is the church of God, established again in the latter-days. This Church, is led by living prophets, who only want the best for us. I am so grateful for all the truth and light I've received by following Christ and His doctrines. I know that families can be together for eternity. I know that following Jesus Christ brings so much happiness and peace. I absolutely LOVE being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I will soon be leaving to serve an eighteen month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will be serving in Georgia, USA. I am very excited to share my beliefs with those in Georgia who are seeking answers.
