Hi I'm John

I was raised on a farm, but I live on the border of Mexico. I love extreme sports! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the interstice between two cultures. My favorite Saturday night activity? Carne asada for sure! I love extreme sports whether motocross, windsurfing, shark fishing, or just running, we find ways to have fun. I am preparing to attend BYU Provo following a full-time mission in the Colombia. During the summers I work in construction. Academically, I love Lincoln-Douglas debate. Favorite movie line? "There is no charge for awesomeness... or attractiveness..." -Po Panda (The Dragon Warrior).

Why I am a Mormon

Jesus Christ instituted his gospel on the earth nearly 2000 years ago. Since then, as a result of the death of Jesus Christ and his apostles, the original church and the Priesthood authority was lost. So then what are we to do? The Apostle Peter answers this question in the book of Acts, chapter 3, he teaches,"...And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you... Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began...". What he was prophesying was that Jesus Christ and His Church would be taken from the Earth, and they were, but that there would come a "restitution of all things" or in other words, a restoration, where the Gospel of Christ in all it's fullness would once again be restored to the Earth with all the Priesthood authority, and all the teachings that existed in the primitive Church of Christ. My friends, we are living in the days prophesied by the mouths of "all his holy prophets" where once again we have the gospel in it's fullness upon the Earth! This is why I am a "Mormon". This is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This is why I am a disciple of Christ!

How I live my faith

In my branch I currently serve as a ward missionary, meaning I aid the missionaries and help the families here, as well as the Gospel essentials teacher. The Gospel essentials class is held the second hour of church on Sunday. This class is for investigators and new members within a year of being baptized, and I promise.. It's awesome! Whenever you visit one of these classes always feel free to ask any questions you have no matter how "simple" they seem. Odds are, if you have a question, so does the person next to you! Plus, that's the point of the class! In the community I am never afraid to share that I am a Mormon. We are kind of loud about that aren't we? But the reality is that our "church" life and our "real" life are not two different things. As disciples of Christ these are one in the same! Which is why we so freely talk about it in public.
