Hi I'm Samantha Tidwell

I am studying anthropology. I enjoy learning about other cultures and being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved playing sports and going camping, hiking, and swimming. Recently I discovered that I am a huge fan of kayaking and paddle boarding. I am attending University, where I am studying anthropology. I am passionate about learning about other cultures and human origins. I also enjoy spending time with my brother, sister, and the rest of my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family that belonged to this Church. However, it wasn't until I began the Church's scripture study program for youth as a freshman that I began to read scriptures independently and try to figure out if I truly believed what I had been taught all my life. That year we were studying the New Testament. As I read daily about Jesus Christ and His life, I noticed changes in my own life. I realized that I was overall happier, had better self esteem, and had an increased capacity to deal with the everyday challenges of life and school. I have noticed the same changes in my life as I read The Book of Mormon. It teaches moral values that I agree with and that match those taught in the New Testament. Because I believe The Book of Mormon to be the word of God, I know that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet and that this Church is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be kind to those around me and considerate of their needs. I am respectful of my parents and I try everyday to look for the hand of God in my life. Recently I have been able to serve in the children's organization at church. I've taught them lessons on Sundays about Jesus Christ and His gospel. I have learned a lot from this and hope that the kids I have taught have learned something of the gospel and know that their teacher genuinely cares about them. My faith has helped me to learn and grow when faced with life's challenges.
