Hi I'm Bruce

I am a retired school teacher that lived in Chicago. Also, I served as a Navy chaplain for 9 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to travel. While in the military, I lived in North Carolina, Italy, Virginia, Illinois and Utah. I enjoy helping people, reading, cooking and playing the piano. I have been married for 38 years and have four children and nine grandchildren. Family is very important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I wad 16 years old, my best friend asked me about my faith and why I was a mormon. Since I was born into the church, I didn't have a very good answer for him. I decided, after getting guidance from a spiritual leader, to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it were true. Reading the Book of Mormon was a very special experience. As I read, I felt a great sense of peace. Answers to many questions I had were answered. After several weeks of reading and pondering the Book of Mormon, I decided to pray to find out the truth. During my prayer, I felt a warm burning inside of my chest. I knew the Book of Mormon was true. I could not deny this powerful experience. Through the years I have experienced many challenges and obstacles. At times so have felt lost and didn't know what to do. On these occasions I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father. He has always answered my prayers and given me guidance on what to do. Sometimes, the answer is not what I expected or wanted to do. However. I have learned to day, "Thy will be done." You know what's best for me today, tomorrow and 10 years from now. I love my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the Saviors atoning sacrifice and for His "Plan of Salvation that allows us to return and love with Him. I have learned that families can be together forever. I am so grateful for this knowledge.

How I live my faith

I play the organ every Sunday for our worship service. In addition, I teach a religious education class. Also, I participate in what our church calls "home teaching." I visit four families on a monthly basis to provide spiritual support and friendship. On October 24, 2017, my wife and I will start serving as full time missionaries working in the Utah Ogden Mission for 18 months.
