Hi I'm Darla

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I own a floral business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married to my best friend! I have three grown children, two are married. I like to read but don't find much time for it. I like escaping to the outdoors when possible like hiking in the mountains. My job, passion and stress revolve around my floral business since 1988. I'm helping to aid in the caregiving of my father who has Alzheimer's. I play the piano and love music. I enjoy humor and consider myself a happy person.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel lucky to have been born into a LDS home with pioneer ancestors. However, I have learned through my own experiences that my Heavenly Father loves me and Jesus Christ is my example and my beloved Savior. I have had many prayers answered. There are tender mercies quite often that feel like God is saying "I'm aware of you, and I love you!" I love the Book of Mormon and believe that it's the history of real people that had great experiences and knowledge of Christ. The only way this book is here for all of us is through the power of God. The commandments God has given us are from a loving Father that is trying to protect us from the unhappiness found in disobedience. I don't feel restricted but safeguarded. I've had confirming witness of truth by warmth in my heart, chills, peace, and ideas that I consider to be promptings. The Holy Ghost is becoming a good friend and guiding companion.

How I live my faith

I enjoy working with the youth in my church calling and have had many opportunities to teach them and go on activities with them. They strengthen my hope that there is good in the world. They have strong convictions that are very admirable, and they are trying to make right choices. I consider our ward (church group) as a second family. We help each other through trials and joys. I have made many friends by visiting my neighbors on a regular basis through visiting teaching. I attend church every Sunday and try to live my life as an example of what Jesus would do. His life guides how I want to be. My husband and I work on keeping our marriage strong. Family is our top priority.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the event that affects every human being whether they believe in it or not. Because we all sin we would have no hope of returning to our Father in Heaven. However, because God loved us, His plan was to send His Son to willingly give His life to pay for our sins (He himself was sinless). Because of Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross out of love for us, the eternal law of justice was satisfied. We are then able to repent of our mistakes through the name of Jesus Christ to receive mercy from our sins. In short, we are able to repent, return to our Heavenly Father again, and be resurrected into our perfect bodies forever because of the sacrifice our Savior made for us. If everyone understood how glorious that is, they would never defame His name and would have the utmost love and respect for Him. Show more Show less
