Hi I'm Grant Dowling

I grew up in Indiana. I am one of four children. I love serving the Lord and helping others, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am going on an LDS mission and then heading out to BYU Provo for college. I plan to major in chemistry or biology and then possibly enter medical school somewhere after that. I enjoy playing sports, specifically basketball and Ultimate Frisbee. I've played basketball since I was a little kid, and started playing Ultimate Frisbee during my freshman year of high school. I also participated in scouting for many years and earned the rank of Life Scout. I live with both my parents and three younger siblings, which means our house can get pretty crazy at times with that many kids. I was raised in the LDS church and love serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel of the LDS church, and my parents have taught me a lot in that regard. I only recently read the entire Book of Mormon from cover to cover however. This was during seminary or bible study classes that I took, specifically during my freshman year of high school. Although these classes were early in the morning before school and sometimes difficult to go to, I could tell the difference in my life between days that I went to seminary and studied the Book of Mormon and days that I didn't. Life is just easier when you begin the day with reading the word of the Lord. I have also prayed about the Book of Mormon's truth as real scripture translated by the prophet Joseph Smith, and I have received strong confirmation multiple times of the truth of this book and the restoration of the gospel. My life has truly been blessed for having the gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by assisting in my ward with the other youth mostly. I help the youth leaders in the ward to keep control of everyone and make sure things don't get too out of hand. I also have helped a lot in planning, organizing, and leading meetings and events for the youth with the assistance of the leaders. I also go hometeaching to a few families in the ward, which consists of visiting with the families, making sure they are doing okay, helping them out if they need anything, and sharing a quick message about the gospel. I have done a lot of service such as yard work or cleaning for members of the church in my ward. I also participate in the ward choir, which sings every once in a while on Sunday during normal church meetings. I have been youth family history consultant in the past, which simply is a position that emphasizes the importance of and helps others to do family history work and tracing their genealogy.
