Hi I'm Trent

I grew up in Las Vegas. I lived as a missionary in the Philippines. I work at a drug and alcohol treatment center. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 32 and single. I think that makes me a bit of an anomaly in the Mormon culture, but I enjoy the unique perspective it gives me. I try and stay very involved with my singles ward, both socially and spiritually.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that if there is a God who created all things he would not only be the master chemist and physicist, but he would also be the master of sociology, psychology, therapy, etc. Believing that such a being exists His teachings in how to live and there manner of men we ought to be would be the final authority on such topics. So to me there is only one question in life, "Does God exist?", because if He does exist, then I must serve Him.

How I live my faith

My mom wasn't permitted by my grandfather to go to church when she was growing up. She had to do extra chores and favors to be allowed to go. She has always viewed attending church as something worth sacrificing for because of this. I try and attend and be involved in any way I can because I have the privilege to do so. My life is richer because of my involvement with not just the people and organizations in the church, but by learning and applying the teachings of the religion.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

One of the biggest "what makes Mormons different?" answers is this topic of the purpose of life. Were we created just to fill heavenly choir seats for a god that is all-powerful and benevolent but somehow in need of lots of prayer and song validation? Or is our existence full of purpose? Are we His hobby or His children? Why would He so love the world that He give His only begotten son? Show more Show less
