Hi I'm Jacob Neil

I am a student at BYU. I love sports, learning, traveling, and trying new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have played soccer my whole life. I have also lived close to the ocean for much of my life, and I feel a special connection to God when I am near the ocean. I love my family. As the second oldest of eight kids, I have learned responsibility in the home. I am just starting my own journey outside of that home as a student at Brigham Young University, and I plan to major in civil engineering. God has blessed me to be able to learn the Spanish language, and I am excited to serve and teach the people of Mexico City as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I believe that it is the Kingdom of God here on the earth. I have gained a testimony (knowledge) for myself, through careful and diligent study of the Book of Mormon and prayer to know of its truthfulness, that it is a true book. Because I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book and the word of God, I also know that Jesus is the Christ and that His Church has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. As I have chosen to live according to this belief and knowledge, my life has been blessed and I have come to see that the light of the gospel truly shows me the way to go in order to have the most happiness. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I am so grateful for His atonement (His suffering in the garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross to atone for the sins of the world). I will live by my knowledge and have faith that the things that I don't know yet will be made manifest unto me as I trust in the Lord and live His gospel.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a Ward Activities Director here at BYU. I enjoy helping to plan fun activities that will help the people of our ward (congregation) to bond with each other, have a good time, and learn more about Jesus Christ and His role in their lives.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Jacob Neil
Every person here on earth is a spirit son or daughter of God. He is our Heavenly Father. We came to earth to receive physical bodies of flesh and bone. As our Heavenly Father, God loves us and wants us to live faithfully so that we can return to live with Him once again. He wants to communicate with us frequently and help us along the path of righteousness that will lead us home. We can communicate with Him through prayer. He communicates to us in many different ways: through the scriptures, prophets, and especially by the Spirit, which speaks peace to our mind and heart and leads us to do good. As we live according to the commandments of God, pray frequently and sincerely, and learn of Him through the scriptures (ancient prophets) and living prophets, we will come to know our Father in Heaven and want to return to live with Him again.
