Hi I'm Andrew

I grew up in Wisconsin. I served a mission in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission. My interests include anime and video games. I am an Eagle Scout, and I have performed in multiple plays and musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Joseph Smith could not do and would not do the things he did if he simply fabricated the Church. I know that he was a prophet and that the Church is true. I know that we have a prophet on the Earth today, and that he leads and guides God's church.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission. Prior to the mission, I served as the Bishop's 1st assistant.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

The Church tries to keep out of political conflicts as much as it can because of how contentious politics has become. However, the Church has always had firm and specific beliefs about certain topics, such as freedom of religion. Many other topics have been discussed by the Prophets and Apostles, though they have avoided advocating any specific actions to be taken. For example, although they have stressed how important traditional marriage is, they have not said whether to allow or prevent non-members to have same-sex marriage. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Church tends to be for 3 hours each Sunday. We start with Sacrament Meeting, which is roughly 1 hour long. During Sacrament Meeting, we take the Sacrament (communion), and typically have a few speakers and sing a few hymns. The other 2 hours of church is for gospel-study classes. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

For church, we try to dress in nice clothes. Boys generally wear a white shirt, a bow-tie/necktie, nice pants and possibly a nice jacket or vest. Girls generally wear a dress, either with sleeves or with a top that covers their shoulders. It is okay if someone isn't dressed like this, but we still try to look as presentable as we can. We generally celebrate the same holidays that are celebrated where we live. In my area, that includes New Year's/New Year's Eve, Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, April Fool's Day, Earth Day, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, the 4th of July, Halloween, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are also sometimes small celebrations for some less common holidays, such as making pies for Pi Day and having a Star Wars party for "May the Fourth". Show more Show less
