Hi I'm Sydney

I'm a clarinetist from Utah. I enjoy books, rainy days, and comedies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have played the clarinet for 6 years and I am attending college for Clarinet Performance. I also play bass and have taught private lessons on both instruments. One of my favorite things to do is hike with my border collie/golden retriever. I have another dog and two cats. I love Parks and Recreation and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I can pretty much recite all of it by memory. I am a huge Texas Rangers fan. I can touch my nose with my tongue.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in an LDS family, so I grew up in the church. However, as I read the scriptures and prayed about the truth of the Book of Mormon, I came to know of the truthfulness of this church for myself. I was diagnosed with mental illness my junior year of high school. I was in a dark place emotionally and physically. I couldn't attend school and constantly felt like my life was crumbling around me, though everything was fine. I turned to my Savior during that period of time. Through his Atonement and the grace that it provides, I was able to push through. I still struggle with mental illness, but as I come to Christ, he helps me every day to fight it. I know that this is the true church of God on this Earth. We are the only ones with the Priesthood power and authority to administer saving ordinances that allow us to return to our Heavenly Father. He loves us. He has provided a plan by which we can return to him. He allows us to live with our families forever. The doctrine of the Gospel is so beautiful. Though I was raised in the church, I can say with a surety that I gave gained a testimony for myself and I know that it is true.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and strive to live the principles I learn outside of church. I study the scriptures and the words of our modern day prophets every day and communicate frequently with my Heavenly Father. In the past, I have been an active member of my youth group and had leadership positions that focus on making everyone feel welcome. I have also taught the 7 and 8 year olds on Sundays. Currently, I am serving a mission so I can share my faith with others.
