Hi I'm Sam

I grew up all around the Rocky Mountains. I am the third oldest of six boys. I love to play tennis and ski. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have played tennis and have skied for as long as I can remember. I have played the alto saxophone for 7 years now. Love to play jazz music. I am an Eagle Scout. I am planning to study graphic design and biology. I plan to ultimately become a veterinarian if possible. I love superheroes, Star Wars and Star Trek, and many other fictional series. I am going to serve a full-time mission in Africa.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church with my family. As I've grown older I had many questions and concerns. This didn't happen until I was about in my teens. During my freshman year, I became depressed and very lonely. Most growing teenagers experience depression to a point at least once. I started to question whether God was truly there, and if he cared about me. So, I talked with my counselor at school and worked through my depression. While doing so, I prayed and studied the scriptures. Then through the various challenges, obstacles, and hardships that came my way, I could feel Heavenly Father's hand helping me through. I was able to feel the Atonement work in ways I only heard of. I know now that this is the true gospel, and by practicing the Atonement in our own lives, we can feel God's love and return to him again.

How I live my faith

I have been a "class president" or leader in several youth group classes. I am an Eagle Scout as stated in my bio, and I further continue to enjoy outdoor activities with the boys and my father. Community service is something I also love to be a part of.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Sam
Joseph Smith was a righteous dude, who at the age of 14 decided to find the true church. Now back in the 1800's things were different. You couldn't just have Siri tell you. However, you could pray. So when he was 14, he went and found a quite spot in a grove of trees in Manchester, New York and prayed unto God. Now, having read the Bible, he understood that according to James 1;5-6, that if he were to ask in faith, Gad shall give him his answer. Right then and there, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared unto him in the most bright and holy glory. Heavenly Father told Joseph to behold his son, Jesus Christ. If I were Joseph, I would've fainted. But he being of much stronger faith than I, listened to Heavenly Father and went on to receive further guidance to restore the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth. And so he did.
