Hi I'm Emma

I grew up in a small town. I have big dreams. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying to become an engineer. I love space and my dream is to one day work for the NASA space program. I like to run and play tennis but I also have an artistic side. I like to paint and draw, many pieces actually earning awards. I also love to learn languages which I hope will be of use to me in the future. As a student I had to make a choice to either continue my education or serve a mission. I struggled with this decision, knowing that I would lose many opportunities no matter what I chose. However, after much prayer and faith in God I woke up one day and had one thought, "Just go. God will take care of the rest." I know that God lives, and I am excited to serve his children.

Why I am a Mormon

Many people think that the reason I'm still Mormon is because that's all I know. However, just like someone who has never heard of a Mormon, I had to discover the truth for myself. Even when I was little, I can recall having a firm belief in God despite struggling with other truths. In the field of science the idea of a God is often unaccepted. I have a scientific mindset yet I know that there is no way that the collision of space debris could have resulted in the accidental creation of complex organisms such as us and this beautiful Earth. But why Mormonism specifically? My answer: The Book of Mormon. Never before have I witnessed the spirit and the power of God so strong than when I finished reading the Book of Mormon. My heart was overcome with the spirit to the point there was no denying its truth. I know that God lives. I know he loves us, his children. I know that's why he sent his son, our brother, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, to bridge the gap between life and death so we could return to live with God again. I know the Bible is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. In the name of my savior, Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I try to participate in Church activities and even regular community service as often as time permits between school, family and work. I've been serving in various positions since I was 12. I served as president of our women's youth group for 2-3 years and as a missionary within my community. In college, as soon as I moved in, I was asked to be a counselor to the women's group ranging from 18-30 year-olds. Since I was barely 18 at the time, I was completely terrified! However, God knew how to bless me even though it was something I would not have chosen for myself. I gained many good friends from that experience and came to understand the ways of God even more than I had before.
