Hi I'm Rachael Colwell

I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I attend Brigham Young University. I love horses and lacrosse, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

My hobbies include playing the piano, working out (kickboxing), reading, cooking, eating, spending time with friends, learning, skiing, hiking, playing lacrosse and most of all riding horses. I have competed all over the United States in equestrian events both western pleasure and gaming (rodeo). I have also competed on the American Miniature Horse Association circuit since I was 12, winning many world champion and regional champion titles. I love my family most of anyone in this world, even though they can sometimes drive me crazy! I am attending Brigham Young University and am majoring in Wildlife Conservation, with a minor in Advertising Design. I plan to become a horse chiropractor/masseuse and a mom! I work all summer long on Junior Bear Ranch as the head ranch hand, managing the horses and their training. I played varsity lacrosse for two years in high school. My position was always midfield. Currently I am serving a mission for the church in Little Rock, Arkanasa. And last, but not least, I am a devout Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I can never deny that this church is the true church on the earth. Other churches have a lot of aspects that are truth as well, however, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the fully restored gospel. I have come to know this for myself through extremely personal experiences and through strong feelings of peace and love in my heart. I have received personal revelation about the truth of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and Prophets today. I know this church is so essential to our eternal salvation and I want to spread the word to everyone! Being a Mormon brings me closer to Christ and makes me a better person.

How I live my faith

In my local Mormon community I have served in several callings or assignments. Many of them have been leadership positions as a youth and for the youth in the church. I worship every Sunday and take time out of every day to pray and read my scriptures. I attend the "Mormon" university and love listening to inspirational speakers. I help around my home and try my best to make it a peaceful and Christ-centered place. I live my faith in my day to day life. Additionally, right now I am serving a mission (18 months of my life that I pay for where I go to a different place and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ) in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Rachael Colwell
Christ has given us absolutely everything we have! In my mind, it is less than fair that I am only giving 10% back to Him to aid in the sharing of His gospel. We are commanded to pay 10 percent of our income and I gladly follow it because I have a testimony that God has asked me to do so. It is located in the Bible (Malachi 3:8-10) that we must pay tithing, and I am so happy to be a part of a church that has the same teachings as found in the Bible. Show more Show less
