Hi I'm Kaylee Lowry

I am a BYU-Idaho student. I'm going to be a missionary in the Dominican Republic. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I've been a college student for the last year up at BYU-Idaho. I love college! I also love BYU-Idaho. I like to play racquetball. I am adopted. I love to play the violin and the piano. I am currently serving a mission in the Dominican Republic, so I am learning Spanish! I love the language and the culture here and I'm excited for all of the stories and adventures that I will be experiencing these next 18 months!

Why I am a Mormon

I am LDS because the spirit has told me that the things that I am learning are true. I feel that when I am obedient to God's commandments that I receive these confirmations more often. I know that I am happiest when I am obeying God's commandments, even if I want to stay out past midnight on a Saturday night when everyone else is out. I know that this lifestyle is helping me in the long run and that I am happy when I take into consideration what God has to say about how He wants me to live my life. God is helping me to be the best me that I can be.

How I live my faith

At BYU-Idaho it's incredible the different feeling that you get on the campus. We are taught at BYU-Idaho that the spirit that is there is because of the sacrifices of those that has preceded us. I think that another reason for the wonderful spirit that is there is because of the obedience of those that attend. As a college student, it's really difficult to have a midnight curfew and a no-shorts rule. I know, crazy right?! I think that since we open every single class with prayer and we have an LDS temple right next to campus that the spirit is a sweet and wonderful thing that is just a part of the culture at BYU-Idaho. When we go to church every Sunday I feel that sweet spirit and good feeling too. I find that I have made a lot of friends because of church meetings. It makes it a lot easier to bond if you're spending three hours each week together, three hours each week may sound like a long time but I think that if you're listening to the teacher/speaker then you can learn so much! Sometimes when I attend church I feel like I am an empty sponge trying to soak up everything they are trying to teach. By the last hour, I feel like I can't soak up anything else because I am already full! I just love all the things that I learn in church about Jesus Christ Our Redeemer and Our Father in Heaven.
