Hi I'm Jeri

I grew up in a small mining town in southeastern Utah. I'm married with five children and ten grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with loving parents that did not attend any church but were good examples of honest, hard-working people of integrity. The town I grew up in was diverse with different religions and cultures. I loved being involved with school activities and volunteering. Through the influence of good friends while growing up, I began attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and found a great peace and added meaning in my life. Being a wife, mother and grandmother has been one of my greatest blessings and has brought me joy and a deep sense of fulfillment.

Why I am a Mormon

I can vividly recall, as a young girl, maybe 7 or so, learning about activities in the Mormon church for children. I wanted to go and I did. Most of the time I went alone, but I later attended with other children and their families. My family did not attend any church but were supportive of my desires to attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was truly my "happy place". I felt peace and love when I was there. I was baptized a member of the Church when I was 10 years old. As I grew older and learned deeper doctrine and principles, the spirit testified to me that the things I was learning were true and I had a great desire to learn more. My testimony grew, a little at a time, and the gospel brought me great happiness. I have been so blessed to have wonderful and good friends who have been examples of how to live a faithful life. They have inspired me to be a better disciple of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and learn so much each time! From the pages of this true book, I have been taught principles and doctrines that have helped me through trials and challenges during my life. I have received answers, guidance, strength and increased faith as I have read and studied this book. I know it is true. I have a testimony that the Lord's Church and gospel have been restored in our day and that Joseph Smith was the Lord's prophet, chosen to carry our this important work. I am so blessed to be a member of this restored and true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have felt the love of my Savior and know that He loves each of us so much and wants us to return home to Him and Our Father in Heaven. I am always amazed, that even as I grow older, I continue to learn doctrine that gives me answers, strength, increased faith and the hope and assurance of great blessings to come because of the Atoning sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church and gospel bring me great happiness.

How I live my faith

I have been able to teach and interact with all ages of children, youth and adults as I have served in my church. It is such a joy to hear little children express their love for Jesus as I have been able to teach them the stories of his life. It gives me hope for the future as I have served, taught and participated in activities with the young people of the church. They are strong and faithful and will be great leaders in the future. I have been able to spend many hours with young women 12-18 years old hiking, swimming, learning survival skills, participating in service projects, learning important gospel principles of eternal significance, laughing, talking and having fun. I have been impressed with their inner goodness and desire to make the world a better place. Teaching and serving the young people has given me opportunities to stretch myself and climb out of my comfort zone. I love the youth and feel inspired by their leadership capabilities and faithful endeavors. I have also been able to serve with, teach the adult women of of our Church. As I've been involved in planning events for 400 to 500 sisters, I've gained organization skills, how to plan and preparing meals for large groups, selecting class presentations and workshops, and how to do power point presentations. Giving talks and presentations in front of groups has increased my confidence and blessed me as I study, plan and prepare to give these talks and presentations. I've been able to teach women skills to improve their homes, families and personally enrich their lives. Through these opportunities I have also learned skills, gained knowledge on many important subjects and my life has been deeply enriched. One of the greatest ways I am able to live my faith is by visiting, one on one, with sisters of a great variety of ages in their homes. We have talked, laughed, cried, shared gospel insights and enjoyed the bond of sisterhood. I have gained life long friendships that bless me and them.
