Hi I'm Sam

I was born in Utah and grew up in Wisconsin. I love to be active and go on adventures. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Rain or shine I love being outdoors. Whether it be running, hiking, or snowboarding, anything that gets my heart pumping makes me a happy guy. Spending time with friends and family is also a necessity in my life. Throughout my youth I participated in the scouting program and was able to achieve my goal of becoming an eagle scout. That journey helped me develop life skills that I apply daily in my job as a front end manager at my local Target retail store. Some of my pastimes include any sports, running, cooking, and (although I'm not that great) practicing musical instruments.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have been a member all my life, but it was not until I turned 18 that I really strove to find out if what I have been taught all my life is really something I wanted to believe in. It was at that point that I began my own journey of conversion to the gospel. There were many trials throughout the process, but the Lord was always there to guide me and help me find the path I needed to follow. Because of this I was blessed, and through the witness of the Holy Ghost, I was able to receive an overwhelming confirmation that this church is true. I had been given the knowledge of the truthfulness of the restoration of Christ's church in this modern day, and that it was through Joseph Smith, a prophet called of God, that we are able to have this knowledge. I am a Mormon because we do have a living prophet now. God has not abandoned us, and he has given us our dear prophet to lead and guide us throughout our lives here upon this earth. He is able to receive revelation and direction for us all. Another reason I choose this faith is because of the many temples we have here upon this earth. A temple is a house of the Lord, and there we are able to perform sacred work. One of the amazing blessings we have because of temples is the ability to be sealed to our families for all time and eternity. There is no "till death do you part". We have the knowledge and reassurance that as we live worthily, we will be able to live with those we are sealed to again after this life. I hold that promise close to my heart as family is so important to me. There is so much more to say and so little room to say it, so I'll finish by saying that being a member of this church has been nothing but a blessing in my life. Because of it, I know the plan that God and Jesus Christ have laid out for us. I know that this church is true. I know The Book of Mormon and Bible are true. I know that we have a prophet here upon this earth. I know that God loves us. For that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be obedient to the Lord and his commandments. For myself, an essential piece of that desire is attending church meetings and activities. By doing so I am able to further learn and grow in ways that would be difficult on my own. By participating in church discussions I am able to feel of the Lord's spirit and feel of the reassurance that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I also live my faith by constantly trying to live like Christ did by developing Christlike attributes. I have found great joy in serving those around me, no matter how small or menial that service is. I have learned that simple kindness can go a long way, and the blessings that come of it are profound. I live my faith by learning of its teachings and internalizing those lessons. By having a greater understanding of those teachings I am better prepared to share that knowledge with those around me.
