Hi I'm Darren

I attended Moapa Valley High School. I'll be attending BYU-Idaho as a music major. I love the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school, I participated in NHS and Student Council. I played French horn and mellophone in band, trumpet in jazz band, and I've played the piano since I was seven. I also played basketball and tennis, and I was on the swim team. I was a lifeguard for three summers. I used to pour concrete with my dad a lot. I am an Eagle Scout. When I was fourteen, I built a canoe. I am going to college at BYU-Idaho as a music major.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Christ-centered home. My family has always been active in the church, and my parents did their best to ensure I was reared in the gospel. They always told me stories of my remarkable ancestors, which strengthened my testimony. Because of my family's activity in the church, I have been blessed with so many wonderful experiences. These experiences have given me a firm testimony in the truthfulness of the gospel, and I am so grateful for them.

How I live my faith

Through the church, I enjoy service opportunities and being a friend. I have enjoyed visiting and helping the elderly and other members of the church to lift their spirits and bring a gospel message. I can truly see the difference it makes in their lives. About the time I was fourteen, I was called to a position accompanying the choir. I did that for about four years and enjoyed it. I love the spirit that music brings, and I am grateful for all the training this calling has brought me. At times, the Lord has also called me to serve in several leadership positions where I have labored and prayed for members of the church and nonmembers. I try to make sure everybody is happy and having positive experiences.
