Hi I'm Chris

I'm a pianist, cook, and Mormon!

About Me

I absolutely love playing the piano, when I'm playing I feel like I can do absolutely anything at all. I really started playing when I was in high school and joined the jazz band, and I was really bad when I joined, I couldn't playing anything in time, I was so embarrassed every day I went in there. After 2 years of that though I got a lot better, and find a lot of joy in just playing music that I love to play, and playing with other musicians. There isn't anything quite like that feeling. When I was in my last year of high school I got a job at a pizza shop, and that quickly became my second passion, I love cooking, and it's something I want to for as long as I can. Having these two hobbies though is really demanding, they both can be so time consuming. I'm lucky I've found a way to balance them.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in Junior High I fell away from the church, I didn't really have that testimony of God or of Jesus. After a few years I started to hang out with the wrong kind of people ya know? I started to feel really depressed and I didn't want to anything to do with well anything I loved to do. I stopped playing the piano, and I just didn't have the drive to do anything, I felt so hopeless and lost. In my last year of high school I finally had the drive to leave the kids I had been hanging out with for so long. It was probably one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. No matter how alone I felt before it felt worse after that. I was very fortunate that a different group of friends that I had met in choir was so willing to take me in, they were all so so so nice. They had a quality about them that I didn't understand, but I desperately wanted. They taught me a lot about what it meant to be Christ like, and to have love for others. Shortly after meeting them I found my desire to play the piano again. We were in California for a choir tour for school and the kids that were in my room in the hotel were some of these really good friends, and the encouraged me to bring my scriptures and study with them every night. One night we had a testimony meeting and I felt the spirit so strongly that I couldn't deny the things that I had felt. These friends encouraged me to pray and to ask if these things which I had felt were true, and ever since praying I've known from the bottom of my heart that Christ lives and loves me, and that he wants me to be happy. I'm grateful for the ties I have made in the church, because it scares to think of where I would be without them.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to serve Jesus Christ, and our Heavenly Father as a missionary in Jesus' church, I have been called to serve in the Tokyo Japan mission. My desire is to be able to spread the love that I have felt, to all those who haven't had the opportunity to feel it or have forgotten what it feels like. I have found that through personal prayer, I have been able to help a lot of people. Every day when I wake up, I try to think of someone that I can help, in any capacity whether it is a huge project, or something small, by just giving them someone to talk to. Service means so much to me and it brings me so much joy to see people smile and laugh when you help them.
